Jacksonville May Meetup Recap

Fri, 05/18/2012 - 08:59

Thanks to everyone who attended the third Jacksonville Drupal Meetup. (Original event: http://groups.drupal.org/node/228133)

In attendance:
Kevin Basarab
Kelly Devlin
Erik Hendrick
Ramesh Marikanti
Jitesh Doshi
Ovi Dimulescu
Ritika Oswal
Pramod Jain
Priya Ganesan
Mirek Chowaniok
Kevin Basarab
Tad Kellermann
Max Bodruch

We started off the meeting with some introductions before starting up a Google Hangout and starting a presentation on Drupal Storm by Ramesh. Unfortunately we ran into issues with the Hangout. We had made it public which caused lots and lots of people showing up but not actually there for the presentation. Thinking next time we may need to make it invite only and get email addresses via IRC for invites into the hangout or have the Hangout only running on one computer as a moderator.

After Ramesh's presentation Jonathan took the stage for some Drupal 7 theming. We'll be doing another presentation by Jonathan on this as well soon.

Our next meeting will be June 19th. If you have any suggestions for a meetup topic please post them in the discussion below. Look forward to seeing everybody then.

There are plenty of good restaurants around Urban ReThink so we'll probably do lunch "out". (Meals will be the responsibility of the attendees.) I will most likely be bringing baked goods for the morning.

Please comment or signup for this event on groups.drupal.org so I can get a better picture of the number of people that will be attending the Orlando event.

Address: Urban ReThink, 625 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL, 32801
Hours: 9am - 5pm (EST)
Cost: Free (Sponsored by Mediacurrent)

About Drupal Coworking Friday:
- Date: Last Friday of each month
- Focused on Drupal Professionals (freelance, fulltime, part time, in office, home, etc.)
- This is not a meetup, code-sprint, BoF or presentation
- Attendees would still do their regular work/calls/etc
- Other Drupal folks would be there to talk to, collaborate, advise (and likewise for the attendee)
- Ideally, an entire section of the space will be dedicated for Drupal professionals

See http://groups.drupal.org/node/195983 for the Drupal Coworking Friday FAQ and the Coworking group at http://groups.drupal.org/coworking for general information about coworking. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coworking for writeup from Wikipedia about what coworking is.
