Most viruses, spam and adware target .DLL, .EXE, and ActiveX files. If you want to drastically cut down on these, remove the operating system that uses them: Microsoft Windows. Mac OSX is a rebranded distribution of Linux. This OS is completely different from any of the Microsoft operating systems. Instead of the OS running on top of other software, OSX is the only software. This means scalability, better use of hardware resources, and software that doesn't bleed into other software.
I know, "Macs are more expensive than PC's."
However, if you consider the costs associated with combating the above mentioned nuisences, you may come to other conclusions:

So what is the REAL bargin? With Mac and OSX, one of two things will happen: 1) you'll wonder how (or why?) you ever bought a Windows PC, or 2) you'll forget about viruses, computer problems, backing up your system, and you'll enjoy using your computer the way God intended you to.
